Every Spring and Fall since Fall 2015 a group of designers have come together to design patterns that crocheters can easily make and donate to the charity or location of their choice. This fall 9 designers have joined together to design 10 different mitten patterns! I’ve included a list of the designers participating in this event at the end of my post along with the dates when you can expect their pattern to be available. Please come join our Charity Drive Facebook group to keep updated on all of the patterns and to share your finished makes!
My pattern for the Charity Drive this time around is called the Faux Cabled Mittens. These mittens are considered an easy pattern can could definitely be made by a beginner crocheter. There are no complicated cables in this pattern, just a fancy schmancy fake cabled look without all of the extra effort and grief of cables (I love cables, but I know not everyone enjoys or understands how to make them).

Photo Tutorial for Linking the Loops
Shows the links. | ![]() |
Take the second row of loops and pull them through the first row of loops. | ![]() |
Take one of the loops in the second row and cross one loop over diagonally. Pull the third loop through it. | ![]() |
Repeat for the other side. The side you start with doesn’t matter, just be consistent with the one you choose. | ![]() |
Take the loops in the next row and pull them through the loops in the previous row. Repeat steps until you have no loops remaining. | ![]() |
You can also try these different looping techniques! Criss cross each set of links, or link each vertical link through one another to get 2 more unique “cabled” looks!
